Strolling along the shores of the mainstream . . .
Bradly Manning is a horrible example. You may want to do your homework. Take a look at Art 10, UCMJ and Rule for Courts Marial 707 and Art 13, UCMJ.You will see that if Bradly Manning's attorneys want? He is guaranteed a trial within 120 days. The delay in the trial to date, is defense delay. And it is not uncommon for a high profile trial to stretch out many years on request of the defense. Under both military and civilian law this is common. It is covered by the 6th Amendment, and in this case RCM 707 and Art 10, UCMJ. And torture? No. Sorry. I have read the claims you have...and they folks making them have no basis. If he is being tortured, Art 13, UCMJ, give the defense counsel real recourse to address. If there is torture, you will see evidence presented to the judge. But the truth is there is no torture. So to claim that it is the government jailing and torturing , at least with respect to Bradley Manning, is silly. Or perhaps lazy. Typically I respect your opinion. Here my friend, you are way out of your league.
This is a lie. Bradley Manning and his lawyers have not been trying to delay proceedings—on the contrary, they have been trying to expedite them in order to get him out of this permanent imprisonment and torture. Manning’s rights have been systematically curtailed—and his treatment is torture, plain and simple. 24 hour solitary confinement, no exercise allowed, no blankets, no lights-out, being woken every hour to “make sure he’s not trying to commit suicide”, etc. All these constitute torture by the American military code’s own standards. Read Glenn Greenwald on this issue—he’s been all over it since the get-go. GL
Actually it was just on a TV special recently that Manning was in fact being tortured. Things like leaving the lights on all night long in his cell and a guard coming in every ten minutes to wake him up so that he could not get sleep. Other things mentioned were things like spraying him with water and letting him sit in a cold room for hours. Just making miserable all the time to emotionally and mentally break him. This is nothing in comparison to the torture the US Government did to Iraqi detainees. Electric shock therapy, Drilling holes in peoples legs and arms with electric drills, Gun shoot wounds to the legs and arms and then letting the wounds fester for days before giving medical treatment. Water boarding, Manning is being tortured because he exposed the US government for what it is. A lawless government that has no respect for the rule of law and international standards for treatment of war criminals. Read the Wikileeks documentation. Then you will see how evil the U.S government is.
You haven't been banned in the UK, so not so cool yet :))
You haven't been banned in Puerto Rico! Oh, wait that is the USA. You've restored some trust in me. This whole thing will come down soon; and Darwin's theory will be put to the "test"Thank GLBeno
Hello,Delightful interview, GL.Now here's the most recent problem: Newt just won the S.C. primary. Apart from whatever else he's saying, he claims he won't obey U.S. Supreme Court orders if he disagrees with them.Ask yourself. What other country in the civilized world tolerates a major party candidate saying he will selectively suspend the rule of law by disregarding court orders if elected? In effect, 40% of S.C. republicans, true blue god fearing Americans all of them, are voting for a candidate who promises to suspend the rule of law as determined by the courts. This is the rhetoric of Germany circa 1932. That's really, as in no kidding. How many S.C. republicans think Newt really means it? And how many, like irresponsible children, think it's just campaign feel good talk, so it's OK.So you have Obama, who refuses to enforce the criminal law as it pertains to Wall Street, among his many other constitutional violations, and now Newt.So what happens if Newt gets elected and America suffers from another terrorist attack? Or what happens if this Summer, street protests in America go over the top because of deteriorating economic conditions? Will Newt declare martial law? Suspend elections? Close the borders? Suspend banking? Does anyone really know? What's a person capable of doing later in office who says these things openly now? Will Obama do the same?If Newt does get elected and the worst happens, the Americans will have brought a calamity down upon themselves. And they can't say later that they didn't know, because he's telling them now. It's a hard hard decision to leave your native land, but sometimes the ones that survive hard times are the ones who are harder than the times they live in.Regards,Unna
Nice interview, Gonzalo! Very informative.
It's called a "Badge of Honour"....Wear it with the utmost dignity and pride. As a precursor to what may eventuate by way of censoring via..."internet blackouts" ..you may want to consider a radio alternative for this blog. Internet is one thing...but to control the airwaves ...well....that's something else altogether. Your ideas and thoughts are indeed outside the spectrum of the MSM and perhaps what TPTB consider as non-acceptable for the proletariat.Nice interview btw. Got the impression that you only said half what you wanted or needed to though.. as direction is always governed by the interviewer. I thought censorship was the domain of the State Dept. amongst others...lol.
The president swears an oath to uphold the Constitution. He doesn't swear an oath to follow every SC decision.
The president does swear to "execute" the office of the president etc. That means to uphold the laws passed by congress in his capacity as chief executive. Most would construe that to include following the legal processes of the court system set up by congress and referenced in the constitution including upholding and executing the decisions and laws of the duly constituted courts of the United States. That's his job as president. The president does not take an oath to agree with everything the Supreme Court decides or congress passes, but he does promise to conform his actions as president to congressional laws and court decisions.Any person who does not understand this basic requirement of orderly self government is perhaps not particularly well fit to be a citizen in a free society. In the words of Edward Gibbon, the Americans like the Romans of the Empire, may no longer be capable of an "ordered liberty".This is one reason why America has become such a dangerous country. And most dangerous of all to its own internal population. I believe this is why GL is saying, leave now.I disagree with GL about a lot, but here and sadly, he may be right.Unna
To clarify one point, the UK revoked Press TV's license to broadcast in the UK due to their violation of specific provisions of Britain's Communication Act. According to the UK, Press TV was given opportunity to rectify those violations but did not respond. Nothing to do specifically with Max Kaiser's program.More info here:http://www.ukzambians.co.uk/home/2012/01/22/press-tv-loses-uk-licence/I think foreign producers and content providers who make use of Press TV become tainted by association with the rest of Press TV's content and editorial policies, and the policies of Iran's government. No country's media and government are beyond reproach, but there are degrees and shades of imperfection. On the other hand, if one is aiming to capture an audience that supports the policies of Iran's government, it's a good move.
Nice suit but I miss your black eye. I second the vote for Radio Free Lira
Sir, it appears you are misinformed. That is it seems you are refusing to look at the law and rules that implement the law, instead relying on a single biased source with no experience in this area. The delay to date has been occasioned primarily to accommodate defense requests for delay, including witnesses such as Barrack Obama and Hillary Clinton. If you review Art 10, UCMJ and RCM 707 you see there is a 120 day requirement to bring an accused to trial. Government can request delay....but there is no way that the over 1 year of delay is all government delay. Frankly, no one outside the teams (prosecution and defense) know for sure since the filings are not public. But after his trial is over the records will be public. I would bet you a dollar to a hundred that less than 10% of delay government delay. You claim "Bradley Manning and his lawyers have not been trying to delay proceedings—on the contrary, they have been trying to expedite them in order to get him out of this permanent imprisonment and torture" But you base this on a single source. With no experience in military law?Again I invite you to look at the law and talk to folks who practice this law. We are still a country that follows the rule of law.I have a bit of experience here. I have prosecuted and defended hundreds of courts-martial including many that centered around National Security issues. To claim that the entire delay is caused by the government shows a complete lack of knowledge of how the system works.IF that were true? If Pvt Manning has demanded a speedy trial (that is the legal mechanism available to him under Art 10, UCMJ and RCM 707) and the government has delayed this well over a year while he is in custody? Then I expect the judge (when one is appointed...there has yet to be a military judge appointed in this case) to dismiss the case with prejudice and free Pvt Manning. Art 10 UCMJ would demand this.Like you, I am not privy to the underlying filings that control this case. But unlike you, I am not relying on uninformed sources for my information,.You had a good point to start. The passage of the recent Defense Authorization Act with the power to suspend Habeas Corpus is, I believe, a step away from the rule of law and a sad day for our country. But when you try and claim that Bradley Manning is somehow being denied a speedy trial and subject to torture with no recourse ? That claim has no basis in fact.
Fantastic interview....and I loved the plug for Ron Paul!
Hey GL,Good interview and I've linked to it elsewhere as well.Something you said struck me recently. You predicted tht the current Euro crisis will resolve down ro 0.60 USD to the EUR. However, CHF has recently been pegged to the EUR at 1.20 CHF per EUR. They are buying EUR bonds like crazy in order to get it there. What will this mean for Switzerland?
Gonzalo - Great interview. You mentioned a relocation advisory service. Could you advise where to get more info on that. Also FYI heard a presentation this weekend by former AZ Sheriff Richard Mack. His stuff is great. At that presentation he described how Pay Pal tried to impede his ability to withdraw $47K from his account, just when he needed it to pay for an upcoming sheriffs education convention. I would go into all the details but thought you should know.
Dear Mr LiraThanks for the great insight into what's really happening in the USA. Pope Benedict XVI advised U.S. Bishops, "it is imperative that the entire Catholic community in the United States come to realize the grave threats to the Church's public moral witness presented by a radical secularism..." My question to you is, does the economic crisis and ongoing efforts to resolve the US debt go hand in hand with health care to include all profitable health care markets, even abortions, by FORCING all citizens to buy health care? Anyway what is your take on it. Also, I would like to present to you my book about a collective As I Passed Him: a prophecy within our times. It is featured at my web site JRCarri.com My email is firstname.lastname@example.org
Unquestionably, the US is a de facto dictatorship. I left the US years ago, even before nine one one; after that event, I told my friends that they had approximately a decade to get ready to leave the country. Now I think, as you do, that their time has just about run out. Soon they may not be able to leave. It is already getting difficult to renounce citizenship, which they certainly should do--but Americans are typically very sentimental nationalists.Don't quite agree with your or Max on the economics, though, except with your excellent remark that it is not a subject for soundbites. Well put! Personally, I follow chaps like Warren Mosler (moslereconomics.com) and Randall Wray (neweconomicperspectives.org); Cullen Roche at Pragmatic Capitalism (pragcap.com) is pretty good too--probably a bit closer to your way of thinking, I would surmise.
LIKED AND AGREED WITH YOUR PERSPECTIVE,BUT; THE B MANNING CASE IS SIMPLY A CASE WHERE MILITARY 'GRUNTS' ,LIKE MANNING ARE-ALREADY WITHOUT ANY RIGHTS,WHEN HE SIGNED-ON TO A TOUR OF DUTY.MANNING IS A RESENTFUL/GAY??/RENEGADE/SELF MARTYR HERO,AND HE KNEW FULL WELL,SAD TO SAY THE CONSEQUENCES .SO, BY USING MANNING AS THE 'EXAMPLE',WAS NOT A GOOD IDEA.IN FACT.ONE COULD IMPLY USA IS NOT THAT FAR DOWN THE ROAD,YET.AMERICA'S 'UNDERGROUND' IS ALIVE AND WELL,AND YOU'D BEST RESEARCH THESE 'UNDERGROUND' FOLKS EVERYWHERE,WHO KNOW HOW TO SURVIVE THE CURRENT DEBACLE-HERE.REMEMBER,EVER CORRUPT COUNTRY HAS UNDERGROUND FOLKS WHO KNOW HOW TO SURVIVE,DESPITE THE CORRUPTION.FRANCE HAD THIS IN WW2,AND THEY SURVIVED HAVING SAID THAT,YOU TRULY IMPRESSED ME ON ALL OTHER TALKING POINTS,AND HAD max A BIT FLUSTERED,FISHING FOR MAX-POINT-OF-VIEWS,AND HE-MAX DIDN'T GET IT. YOU HAVE A NEW FAN AND WILL CHECK YOUR PAGE/READ UP ON MORE GREAT AND ACCURATE POINTS OF WORLD/USA HAPPENINGS. MY CHOIICE IS PANAMA TO FLEE,BUT CURRENTLY i CAN SURVIVE IN THE USA ON LESS THAN PANAMA,AND THAT IS 'UNDER GROUND-STYLE' ,AND ALL LEGAL.
I can't even believe you idiots. Anyone with half a brain that has been in the military would know that a low levellevel (PFC) would not have access to that kind of info. Just like they blamed Abu-Griab on a few young enlisted chumps they forced to pose with for those pics. Americans deserve NDAA and the FEMA camps they will soon be sitting in for being poor citizens and guardians of the their constitution. It's not like you weren't fucking warned.
PRESIDENT’S DAY is today, 2/20/2012 – What better time, than this, for Americans, and especially Ron Paul Supporters, to support Ron Paul’s Campaign to RESTORE AMERICA [NOW]?President’s Day is an excellent day for Americans to “put their money where their mouth is.” Let’s RESTORE AMERICA – NOW! TIME IS RUNNING OUT! Ron Paul can do A LOT – but not without YOUR [and MY] help! [I already donated $100.00 to Ron Paul's Campaign today. How about YOU?]http://www.ronpaul2012.com/
Hey I loved that Video!!!Excellent!!Also timely as my wife & I have just decided last month it is time to leave.
Whether it isn't pennyless. Home windows 6 typically obtained favorable evaluations cheap windows 7 key in the event it premiered. Quite a while following it's 09 release, presently there still haven't been plenty of issues.
